ABOUT ABOUT

Make sure your membership is current, because once again it's time for the Annual Membership Meeting of the Friends of Arlington's David M. Brown Planetarium!

We will be holding the meeting virtually this year, but it will cover the same essential business as when we meet in person - a review of the organization's activities in 2021 and a look at our plans for this coming year, a proposed budget for 2022, and the election of some of the members of the Board of Directors. All members are welcome and encouraged to attend. As a small, all volunteer organization we value your participation and suggestions!

At 3:00 pm, before the business portion of the meeting, there will also be a special presentation by astronomy educator Noreen Grice

Title: A Universe for Everyone: Planetarium Accessibility Considerations

Description: In this multi-sensory talk, astronomy educator Noreen Grice will explore how planetariums can be more inclusive and accessible for visitors of different learning styles and abilities. She will reference two of her books on accessibility during the talk:
"Everyone's Universe: A Guide to Accessible Astronomy Places", and "Touch the Stars, 5th edition".

Biography: Noreen Grice is recipient of the Klumpke-Roberts award from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific for “outstanding contributions to the public understanding and appreciation of astronomy." She holds Master’s degrees in astronomy and business administration, has worked in and with the planetarium field for over 35 years and is currently President-Elect of the Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society.
